Abstract

The article considers the activities of the Genghis Khan's eldest son – Jochi Khan during the last years of his life. The complexity of relationships Jochi with his father and brother are analyzed. The author lays strictures on Rashid al-Din's information about Jochi's
demarche during the Central Asian campaign. The details of the Mongol conquest of Dasht-i Kipchak are investigated and the version on the participation of Jochi in the Battle of the Kalka is suggested. Much attention is also paid to the status and position of Jochi in the ruling elite of the Mongol Empire, to the validity of his Khan's title. Different versions of Jochi's death are investigated.
