Abstract

The article discusses the legal nature of the subjects of the institution of suffrage - political parties. The conceptual apparatus and the essence of the constitutional legal status of political parties as subjects of the electoral process of Russia are determined. It is noted that the main trend of modern Russian election legislation is related to the expansion of the foundations of participation of political parties in elections, not only at the federal, but also at the regional and municipal levels.
