REVIEW OF WRITTEN SOURCES ABOUT THE KAZAKH ZHUZES
Abstract
This article describes one of the most complex problems of Kazakh history based on written data - the history of the emergence of zhuzes. There is very little information about the Kazakh zhuzes in medieval written sources. Therefore, due to the lack of historical
written sources, this topic still remains controversial. The article provides a brief overview of the historiography and written sources related to the history of the emergence of zhuzes. The authors attempt to implement the idea of the prominent scholar V.P. Yudin regarding
the necessity of re-examining the term "three zhuz" using written sources. Additionally, historical sources such as "Tarikh-i Rashidi" by Muhammad Haidar Dughlat, "Baburnama" by Zahir-ud-din Babur, a letter from the Nogai bi Seyit-Akhmet, "Daftar-i Chingiznama" by an unknown author, and "Tarikh-i Kipchak-khani" by Khodjamquli bek Balkhi are analyzed.
